West Memhis, Arkansas – A large-scale joint operation in Eastern Arkansas, involving multiple law enforcement agencies, resulted in a substantial number of arrests earlier this week. The operation was aimed at removing wanted and repeat offenders from the streets, significantly contributing to community safety.

In total, the law enforcement officers successfully made 245 arrests within just an eight-hour span. This remarkable achievement highlights the efficiency and dedication of the teams involved. Arkansas State Police played a crucial role, contributing 27 of their troopers to the task force. Overall, 55 officers patrolled the streets of Crittenden County, focusing on reducing crime in the area.

The operation’s success is further underscored by the 449 “officer violation contacts” that were made. These included 75 criminal, 20 speeding, 13 DWI, 2 safety belt, 2 child restraint, 20 other hazardous arrests, and 113 non-hazardous arrests. Additionally, the officers issued various kinds of warnings for other violations.

The scope of the operation extended beyond just arrests. Officers also confiscated eight firearms and seized numerous illegal narcotics, including marijuana and crack cocaine. These seizures represent a significant blow to local illegal drug activities and demonstrate the comprehensive nature of the operation.

Arkansas State Police Colonel Mike Hagar emphasized the importance of such operations in ensuring the safety of Arkansas residents. “Arkansas State Police will not hesitate to step up with our partner law enforcement agencies in communities that sorely need our support,” he stated, reinforcing the commitment of the state police to public safety.

This operation was a collaborative effort, with members of the 2nd Judicial District Drug Task Force and the cities of Marion and West Memphis working alongside Arkansas State Police.
