Little Rock, Arkansas – Mail delivery disruptions continue across parts of Arkansas as lingering winter weather conditions keep roads unsafe and limit normal postal operations. Statewide cold, snow, and ice have forced the U.S. Postal Service to temporarily suspend deliveries to some homes and businesses while crews wait for safer conditions.

Safety Concerns Keep Mail on Hold

U.S. Postal Service officials say the decision to pause deliveries is centered on safety. Becky Hernandez, a spokesperson for USPS, confirmed that winter weather has directly affected postal operations across Arkansas, stressing that protecting employees and customers remains the top priority.

“Due to safety concerns, mail delivery has been temporarily suspended to some residential and business customers. Local postal officials will continually monitor conditions and make thoughtful decisions regarding processing, delivery, transportation, and retail operations,” Hernandez said. “The Postal Service employs a robust and proven plan for such weather events and will remain vigilant prior to, during, and after the storm to ensure the mail keeps moving, as long as it is safe to do so.”

Postal leaders say icy streets, snow-covered roads, and poor visibility have made it dangerous for carriers to reach certain areas. Rural routes, steep roads, and neighborhoods with untreated surfaces are among the hardest hit, as delivery vehicles may struggle to stop or maneuver safely.

Local postal officials are closely tracking weather updates and road conditions and will resume service as soon as it is safe. Processing and transportation operations are also being evaluated daily to prevent delays from spreading further across the region.

Customers affected by the suspension are encouraged to remain patient as conditions improve. Once deliveries restart, USPS crews will work to catch up on delayed mail and packages. Officials emphasize that while interruptions are frustrating, safety must come first during extreme winter weather events that continue to affect Arkansas.
