Investigation underway after fatal shooting incident in Little Rock, victim identified

Little Rock, Arkansas – A 47-year-old woman, Maryam Ballard, lost her life in a fatal Little Rock shooting incident. The incident occurred on a Saturday morning in a residential area just south of the city’s downtown, adding to a series of violent events in the capital city.

According to the Little Rock Police, Ballard, a resident of North Little Rock, was found dead from gunshot wounds at 2407 S. Cross St. The discovery of her body was made just before 8:30 a.m., prompting an immediate response from law enforcement. The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory took custody of Ballard’s body to conduct an autopsy, an essential step in the investigation to understand the exact cause of her death.

In their pursuit of justice, the Little Rock police have been diligently working on the case. The Crime Scene Search Unit arrived shortly after the detectives started their investigation. These efforts included canvassing the area and speaking with potential witnesses, gathering as much information as possible to piece together the circumstances leading to the shooting.

Despite their efforts, details regarding the motive of the shooting or a description of the suspect remain unclear. The police have stated that the investigation is ongoing, indicating their commitment to uncovering the truth behind this tragic event.

Compounding the city’s woes, another shooting occurred the day after Ballard’s death. A 19-year-old man was gunned down at an apartment complex across from Baptist Health Medical Center, indicating a worrying trend of violence in the area.
